1. Who We Are

OweNo is an independently developed mobile app for iOS and Android, built by a small team of passionate developers. For any questions about these Terms, please contact us on X (Twitter) at @OweNo_Money via direct message.

2. Eligibility

To use OweNo you must:

• Be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area).
• Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction.
• Use the App only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes.

By creating an account you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Your Account

3.1 Registration

You may sign up using an email address and password, or via Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your password with anyone.

3.2 Your Username

When you create an account you are assigned a unique @username. You may not choose a username that impersonates another person, is offensive, or violates any third-party rights.

3.3 Accuracy

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.

3.4 Account Security

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately via X at @OweNo_Money.

3.5 One Account Per Person

Each person may maintain only one OweNo account. We reserve the right to merge or terminate duplicate accounts.

4. The App — What OweNo Does and Does Not Do

4.1 What OweNo Does

OweNo is an expense-tracking and bill-splitting tool. It allows you to:

• Record shared expenses within groups.
• Calculate how much each member owes or is owed.
• Track settlements between group members.
• Scan receipts using AI to pre-fill expense details.
• Communicate settlements with other members via the App.

4.2 What OweNo Does NOT Do

• OweNo does not process, hold, transfer, or move any money. The App records debts and settlements for informational purposes only. No payment is made through or by OweNo.
• OweNo is not a bank, payment institution, financial service, or money-services business.
• OweNo does not guarantee that any balance recorded in the App will be paid by any user.
• OweNo does not provide financial, legal, or tax advice.

You are solely responsible for collecting any money owed to you by other users. OweNo is a record-keeping tool, not an enforcement mechanism.

5. Groups, Expenses & Settlements

5.1 Creating & Managing Groups

When you create a group, you are responsible for inviting appropriate members and managing the group's content. You may archive or leave a group at any time.

5.2 Invite Links & QR Codes

Invite links and QR codes grant anyone who has them access to join your group. Share them only with people you intend to invite. We are not responsible for unintended access caused by you sharing a link broadly.

5.3 Accuracy of Expenses

You are responsible for the accuracy of any expense, amount, or settlement you record in the App. OweNo does not verify, audit, or validate any financial information you enter.

5.4 Disputes Between Users

OweNo is not a party to any financial arrangement between users. If a dispute arises between group members regarding an expense or settlement, that is a matter between the users concerned. We have no obligation to mediate, arbitrate, or resolve such disputes.

5.5 Leaving a Group

You may leave a group at any time. Remaining members will be notified. Outstanding balances are not automatically settled when you leave — it is your responsibility to settle any amounts owed before or after leaving.

6. Receipt Scanning & AI Features

When you use the receipt scanning feature:

• A photo of your receipt is sent to Google's Gemini API for text extraction.
• The extracted data is returned to the App to pre-fill your expense entry.
• We do not store your receipt image after it has been processed.
• Receipt scanning is an optional feature. You may always enter expenses manually.

By using the receipt scanning feature, you consent to your receipt image being processed by Google's Gemini API in accordance with Google's terms.

We make no warranty that the AI-extracted data will be accurate, complete, or error-free. Always verify the pre-filled figures before saving an expense.

7. The Community Ideas Feed

OweNo includes a public Ideas feed where users can submit feature suggestions and vote on others' ideas.

• Ideas you submit as public will be visible to all OweNo users, displayed alongside your username or first name (or anonymously, based on your preference).
• Bug reports and private feature requests are visible only to us.
• By submitting a public idea, you grant OweNo a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, display, and act on that idea within the App and its development.
• Do not submit ideas that contain personal data, confidential information, or content that violates Section 9 (Prohibited Conduct).

8. Push Notifications

By creating an account you may receive push notifications relating to group activity (expenses added, debts settled, members joining or leaving, group changes). You can opt out at any time via:

• In-app: Notification settings in your profile.
• iOS Settings: Settings → Notifications → OweNo.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use OweNo to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Record false or fraudulent expenses or settlements.
• Harass, intimidate, or harm other users.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another user's account or our systems.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App.
• Use the App for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.
• Upload or transmit viruses or any other malicious code.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the App.
• Use the App in any way that could damage, overburden, or impair our infrastructure.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules, at our sole discretion, without notice.

10. Intellectual Property

10.1 Our IP

OweNo, including its name, logo, design, source code, and all content we create, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in OweNo's intellectual property other than the limited licence to use the App described herein.

10.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you enter into the App (expense descriptions, group names, etc.). By entering content into the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the App's services to you.

10.3 Feedback

Any feedback, ideas, or suggestions you provide to us (including via the Ideas feed) may be used by us without restriction or compensation to you.

11. Third-Party Services

OweNo integrates with third-party services including Google Firebase, Google Sign-In, the Google Gemini API, and frankfurter.app. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party service.

12. Availability & Changes to the App

We provide OweNo on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that:

• The App will be available at all times or free from errors, bugs, or interruptions.
• Any particular feature will continue to be available in future versions.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, OweNo is provided without any warranty, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

• The App will meet your requirements.
• Any data or calculations produced by the App will be accurate or reliable.
• Any debts recorded in the App will be honoured by other users.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, including but not limited to:

• Financial losses arising from inaccurate expense records or settlements.
• Disputes between group members.
• Loss of data.
• Unauthorised access to your account.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold OweNo and its developer(s) harmless from any claim, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the App.
• Your violation of these Terms.
• Your violation of any third-party rights.
• Any dispute between you and another user.

16. Account Termination

16.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time via Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and irreversible. All your data will be removed from our systems within 30 days.

16.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, without prior notice or liability. If your account is terminated for cause, you are not permitted to create a new account without our consent.

17. Apple App Store — Additional Terms

As OweNo is distributed via the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:

• These Terms are between you and OweNo only, not with Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
• In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, consumer protection claims, or intellectual property infringement claims.
• If you are in the EU or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws, those rights are not affected by these Terms.
• You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo or listed on any US government prohibited-party list.
• These Terms incorporate Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement by reference where required.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update this page and, for material changes, notify you via push notification or a post on our X account @OweNo_Money. Your continued use of the App after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and OweNo regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
